Technical Assistance Program for Aboriginal Not-for-Profits (TAP)

Description
The Technical Assistance Program for Aboriginal Not-for-Profits (TAP) was created to support the capacity building efforts of B.C.'s Aboriginal not-for-profit organizations. TAP’s program plan includes the following components: 1) Grants to individual Aboriginal not-for-profits to help them identify and address their organizational development challenges, 2) Organizational development training opportunities for employees and volunteers of Aboriginal not-for-profits, and 3) Access to relevant and effective organizational development resources, particularly the learning and tools that emerge from the activities of TAP grantees. It is anticipated that as a result of their participation in TAP, Aboriginal not-for-profits will benefit from stronger management and governance practices, be more effective in the delivery of their programs and services, and better position themselves for long-term organizational sustainability.

Comments
TAP was launched in September of 2006, and is delivered by the Centre for Sustainability. Funding for the delivery and management of the program has been generously provided by the Province of BC - Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation and the Greater Vancouver Urban Aboriginal Strategy.
