COMMUNITY FUTURES DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION OF BC (1 of 1)
|
Community Futures British Columbia
Description The Community Futures Network was established in 1986 by the federal government in response to the severe economic and labour market changes faced by rural Canadian communities. Over the last 20 years Community Futures in BC has played a significant role in entrepreneurial and community development. Comprised of 34 locally and strategically positioned organizations, the BC Community Futures Network has a significant impact on the socio-economic development and diversification of the rural communities it serves. The success of the BC Community Futures Network in fostering entrepreneurship in rural BC is because of its ability to provide business loans to current or prospective entrepreneurs who may have had trouble accessing capital from traditional lenders. In addition to providing excellent business counseling, each Community Futures can lend a maximum of $150,000 to new and existing businesses through their own investment funds. Loans received from a Community Futures are repayable and are negotiated at competitive interest rates.
